1. Census in 1900 in Grant Twp., Hancock, WV. 2 Amanda Bucher, farmer, 85, born Aug 1814, married 66 years and now widowed, had birthed 9 children, 5 still alive in 1900. Living with her: Mary F., 53, born Apr 1847, single. Also: Reed Johnston, farm hand, 45, Jun 1855. Amanda and her parents were born in Pennsylvania. Mary was born in West Virginia.

Next door is Samuel M. Bucher, farmer, 50, Jan 1850. He was married for 27 years to Ella C., 47, Mar 1853. She had birthed 8 children all alive in 1900. With them: Mary F., teacher, 24, Oct 1876; Lucy J., teacher, 22, Dec 1878; John W., 20, Apr 1880; Ameline F., 16, Aug 1884; Eva F., 11, Jun 1888; Samuel E., 10, Oct 1889; and Earnest M., 3, Dec. 1896. She had birthed 8 children, all alive in 1910. With them: Mary F., teacher, 33, single; Millie F., 25, single; Edward M., 18; Emma F., stenographer at pottery, 22; and Earnest M., 13, president of Potters Brotherhood. Everyone was born in West Virginia except Ella in Pennsylvania, also the birthplace of Ella and Samuel's parents.

3. Census in 1920 in East Liverpool, Columbiana, OH. 4 At 1915 Allison St.: Minnie Harries, 49, widowed, was living with son Edward, teacher, 26; daughter Margret, 18; Dorthey, 13; Catherine, 11. Also: daughter Effie Bucher, teacher, 21, and son in law Earnest Bucher, draught man in pottery, 23. Everyone was born in Ohio except Earnest in West Virginia, where his parents were born. Effie's father was from Wisconsin, her mother from Ohio.


Ernest married Effie Eunice Manilla Harries, daughter of Harries and Minnie, on 29 Oct 1919.1 (Effie Eunice Manilla Harries was born on 12 Jun 1896 in Dayton, Montgomery, OH 1 and died in Feb 1986 in Columbus, Franklin, OH 1.)
