3. Obituary: Pottsville Republican: obituary of John A. Balliet on 11 Feb 1978 in Pottsville, Schuylkill, PA. ¹³ John A. Balliet, 23 W. Coal St., Shenandoah, died Friday night at Locust Mountain Hospital. Mr. Balliet was born in Yatesville, son of the late Adam and Susan Major Balliet and was educated in the East Mahanoy Township schools. He had been employed for 52 years by the Ratzburg Lumber Co. He was a member of First Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, Odd Fellows Lodge and Rescue Hook and Ladder Co. Surviving are his widow, the former Evelyn Beacher; one son, John, of Bloomsburg, and four grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday morning from the Oravitz Home for Funerals with the Rev. James Mort, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
