June 30, 1855, he was married to Adelaide P. Acheson, who died March 8, 1895, and to them four surviving children were born, Charles, Edward, Frances and Kitty, all of whom survive him.
During the last few years of his life he was in ill health and went a number of times to Mt. Mr. Beecher was a good citizen, an active mover in political affairs, affable and courteous as a clerk and merchant. He was very kind and generous to the poor.
