Census in 1870 in Upper Bern Twp., Berks County, PA. 2 The 1870 census recorded Reuben Becher, occupation daily laborer, age 7, living with his mother, Lucetta Port, 31, who married Jacob Port, coal burner, 33, following the death of Reuben's father at the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863. Living with them was his half-brother, John Port, 6. They are living on the property of John Groh, 55, coal burner, and his wife Lydia, 54, and their children. The post office was Rehersburg. |
