Census in 1860 in Barry Twp., Schuylkill, PA. 8 The 1860 census recorded George Deerr [indexed wrong], sawyer, 45, living with wife Matilda, 25; son Isaac, 7; daughter Sarah, 4; and son Ferdinand, 6 months old when the census was recorded on 18 Jun 1860. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. The post office was Taylorsville.

2. Census in 1870 in Mount Carmel, Northumberland, PA. 9 The 1870 census recorded Matilda Derr, widowed, 37, living with her children: Isaac, works at breaker, 16; Sarah A., 13; Emaline, 8; Joana, 5; and Susan, 2. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. Matilda's real estate was valued at $400 and personal estate $100.

3. Census in 1880 in Mount Carmel, Northumberland, PA. 10 The 1880 census recorded William Kendrick, coal miner, 44, living with wife Matilda, 43; stepson Isaac W. Janealt, coal miner, 25; stepdaughter Hannah Derr, 15; stepdaughter Susan Derr, 12; and stepson John Derr, 9. Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania except William and his parents in Wales.

4. Census in 1900 in Mount Carmel, Northumberland, PA. 1 The 1900 census recorded Milton [index wrong due to poor handwriting which actually is William] Kendrick, coal miner, no age listed, living with wife Matilda, 68, born Jun 1832. They were married for 19 years, and she had given birth to eight children, 5 still alive in 1900. Living with them are two lodgers: Flossie Miller, 11, May 1889; and Emma Youst, dressmaker, 17, May 1883. Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania, except Milton and his parents in Wales. Milton immigrated in 1870 and had become a U.S. citizen. [Note: Emma Youst is Matilda's granddaughter by her first marriage to George Derr.].

5. Census in 1910 in Mount Carmel, Northumberland, PA. 6 Renting at 43 Walnut St. was Henry Youst, laborer, age 56, was married for 30 years to his wife, Anna, 45. She had birthed 8 children by 1910 and 4 were still alive. With them: sons Issac, 21; and Roy, 8. Also: Matilda Kendreck, 78?, widowed mother-in-law. Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania.

Obituary: Mount Carmel News-Item newspaper: Mrs. Kendrick, 93 Year Old Woman, Dead on 9 Feb 1925 in Mount Carmel, Northumberland, PA. 7 Mrs. Matilda Kendrick, one of the oldest women in this section, passed away at midnight form the effects of complication of diseases due to the infirmities of old age. She had passed her ninety-third milestone in life and although so advanced in age she kept all her faculties 'till the end. She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Henry Youst at 638 East Fifth street.

Mrs. Kendrick was born in Taylorsville, in Schuylkill county. For the past 65 years she made her residence in Mount Carmel and was well known by a host of friends who deeply mourn her passing away. She was preceded in death 21 years by her husband.

Surviving are the following children: Mrs. John Miller, Mrs. Henry Youst, Mrs. Lewis Bolick, Mrs. Jacob Moyer, Mrs. Amelia Kimmel, and John Derr, all of Mount Carmel, and Mrs. Amanda Saudry, of Minnesota.

The funeral will be held Wednesday. Services will be conducted at her late home at two o'clock by Rev. J. H. Dunham, pastor of the United Brethren church and interment will take place in the Mount Carmel cemetery. Undertaker James A. Dyke will direct.
