Prominent Resident Dies Suddenly At Home From a Heart Attack

John Derr, aged resident of 341 south Locust street, died suddenly from a heart attack at his home, at 3:30 am Sunday.
Although he had been suffering from heart disease for the past several years, he had not been seriously ill. In fact, he had worked Saturday at the Colonial colliery where for many years; he was employed as a miner.
Funeral services which are to be held from the home at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon will be in charge of the Reverend E M Strickler, pastor of the United Brethren in Christ Church. Interment will be made in the Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Mr. Derr was born in Mount Carmel and resided here all his lifetime. He was a son of the late George and Matilda (Maurer) Derr. Forty-five years ago, he and Miss Emma Wolfgang were married by Rev. Miller in the Church of God, Mount Carmel.
He was a member of the Junior Mechanics of Ashland.
He leaves his wife and four children, Mrs. Charles Bakey, of Mount Carmel; Mrs. Leo Stibitz, of Wilburton No 1; John Derr Jr., of Mt Carmel; and Mrs. George Sipple, of Williamsport. There are four sisters, Mrs. Alice Moyer, Mrs. Henry Youst, Mrs. Lewis Bolick (Bolich), and Mrs. John Miller, all of Mount Carmel, and a half sister, Mrs. Amanda Sawdy, of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
There are fourteen grandchildren.
