SELINSGROVE - Dr. John H. Bucher, 51, of 611 N. Orange St., a psychiatrist, died Tuesday night in his home.
Dr. Bucher had been in failing health four months. He practiced at the Danville State Hospital and the Harrisburg State Hospital. He also had a private practice in Selinsgrove.
Dr. Bucher attended Ridley Park High School. He graduated from Temple University, Philadelphia, and Yale University, New Haven, Conn. He graduated from Temple University Medical School.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Dr. Bucher was well-known as the owner of several Arabian horses.
In 1947 he was married to the former Sarah Barstler, who survives.
Dr. Bucher was born March 15 1924. in Philadelphia, the son of Jonas W. and Ellen Dreger Bucher, Selinsgrove.
He was a member of the American Medical Association; the American Psychiatric Association, and St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Selinsgrove.
In addition to his widow and parents, he is survived by one son, John W. of Selinsgrove RD1; one daughter, Ellen Jean, at home and two brothers, Robert M. Bucher of Mobile, Ala., and William Bucher of Detroit, Mich.
The funeral will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in the V. L. Seebold Funeral Home, Selinsgrove. The Rev. R. Terrence Foor will officiate.
Burial will be in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Selinsgrove RD1.
At the request of the family, there will be no viewing Thursday.
