5. Pension for the War of 1812 on 2 Jun 1879 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, PA. 9 His wife, Anna M. Appleton, is listed in a War of 1812 Pension index for Capt. Jacob Appleton. Anna filed for the pension in 1879 long after Jacob's death in 1855 and her application is online at http://www.fold3.com/image/#273379556.

The pension application was rejected on July 29, 1879 because the name of Jacob Appleton was not on the index of Pennsylvania Militia and no evidence of his service was found. There is no record of appeal, so she must have assumed Jacob may not have served after all?

On the application Anna Appleton states Jacob enlisted at Chester County, Penna. and at the time was a nailer by occupation, 5 feet 9 inches in height, black hair, blue eyes, age 38 years, born at New Castle Co. Delaware. She was married to the said Jacob Appleton at London Grove Township in the county of Chester in the State of Pennsylvania on the 19th day of June A.D. 1817 by James Wooleson, who was a Justice of Peace and that her name before her said marriage was Anna M. Robison, and that she has not remmaried since the death of Jacob Appleton. Jacob Appleton died at East Birmingham in the State of Pennsylvania on the 29th day of May 1855. Since his discharge from the army they had lived in Chester, Lancaster, and Allegheny Counties, State of Pennsylvania. Her residence was 503 Chestnut Alley, Pittsburgh.

Jacob next married Anna Marie Robison on 19 Jun 1817 in London Grove Twp., Chester County, PA. (Anna Marie Robison was born on 2 Apr 1791 in , Chester, PA,2 10 died on 27 Aug 1884 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, PA 10 11 12 and was buried on 29 Aug 1884 in Pittsburgh: Allegheny Cemetery, Allegheny, PA 10 11 12.)
