Another name for Mary was Mollie Devine.2 General Notes: Mrs. John Dowling is mentioned in Patrick Devine's obituary, but descendant Brenda Walz is not sure Mary was married to a Dowling. Further research needed. Noted events in her life were: 1. Census in 1870 in Leavenworth, Leavenworth, KS. 3 Patrick Devine, gov. employee, 35, was with wife Ellen, 32; Alice, 9; Annie, 7; and Mary, 3. The parents were born in Ireland, Alice in Michigan, and the other children in Kansas. The post office is Leavenworth city. 2. Census in 1880 in Emmett Twp., Pottawatomie, KS. 1 Thomas De Vine, 37, farmer, was living with wife Martha, 41; Mary, 14; John, 13; Thomas, 11; Elizabeth, 9; Catherine, 4; and Martha, 4 months when the census was recorded in June, 1880. The parents and their parents were born in Ireland. All children were born in Michigan, except Catherine and Martha in Kansas. Mary married John Dowling. Mary next married Frank H. Tobin. (Frank H. Tobin was born about 1868 in , , IN 2.) |
