3. Newspaper: Baltimore Sun: Weddings. Beecher-Duffy, 13 Aug 1914, Baltimore, Baltimore, MD. 12 WEDDINGS. Beecher-Duffy. Miss Edwina P. Duffy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Duffy, and Mr. William Lackland Beecher, of St. Louis. Mo., were married at noon yesterday at the residence of the bride's parents, 1915 Guilford avenue, by the Rev. John E. Graham, of St. Ann's Catholic Church. Miss Claire Farran and Mr. William Marshall Murphy were the attendants. Miss Agatha Moore, accompanied by Prof. Ferdinand Linhard, rendered the wedding music. A lunch was served, after which Mr. and Mrs. Beecher left for Atlantic City, from which place they will go to visit the bridegroom's mother in St. Louis. The bride wore a dress of French tulle with hat to match, and the going-away dress was of dark-blue silk poplin. After September 15 Mr. and Mrs. Beecher will be "at home" at the Martha-Lewis Apartment, North avenue and Calvert street.

A former Baltimorean, Mrs. C. Raymond Mills, of London, will return to Baltimore in mid-September after an absence of six years. Mrs. Mills will be the guest of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Henri J. Messier. She was formerly Mrs. William Lackland Beecher and was well known in local politics. A daughter by her former marriage, Miss Jane Margaret Beecher, will accompany her on the trip aboard the City of Hamburg, sailing for this country on September 6. Before her first marriage, Mrs. Mills was Miss Edwina Duffy, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward P. Duffy. Mr. Duffy, known to his friends as Admiral, was shipping news editor of The Sun for many years.

Captain Mills will join them here early in the fall.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Bessie) Messler, 74, widow of Chief Petty Officer Henry J. Messier, USN, and a former resident of 10 Cummings Road, this city, died Sunday in Buzzards Bay, Mass. She had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Baird, personal friends, on Sawyer Road, Buzzards Bay, for three and a half years.
Mrs. Messier was born in Baltimore, Md. Her only known survivor is a sister, Mrs. Edwina Mills of London, England.
The funeral will take place tomorrow from the Nickerson Funeral Home in Bourne, Mass., to St. Margaret's Church at Buzzards Bay. A requiem high mass will be sung at 9 a. m. Burial will be a noon in St. Columbia's Cemetery in Middletown.
