PEANUT STAND THIEF CAUGHT

Two youths were arrested yesterday for burglarizing the office of the YMCA and the peanut stand of Stergios A. Voulopos, 47 1/2 W. King St., this week. Detective Frank Matt arrested a seventeen-year-old youth from Syracuse, N. Y., who admitted breaking into the peanut stand alone. He implicated Kenneth Beecher, twenty, 356 S. Prince St., in the theft at the YMCA, Detective Frank Matt said.
Beecher was arrested ana charged with burglary. The two took $25 in cash from a filing cabinet at the reception desk on the first floor of the YMCA building between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. Monday. Police said the juvenile was recently discharged from the Navy and has been living in Lancaster. For a brief time he stayed at the "Y."
From the peanut stand early Tuesday, the youth took $7 in change and cigars, eigaret lighters and eigaretts, valued at $35. Some of the loot was recovered when police searched him. Police said none of the cash was recovered.

Three Youths Confess Auto, Other Thefts

Three youths rounded up by city detectives admitted yesterday to five auto thefts and two burglaries in the city. Harry G. Reese, eighteen, YMCA, was charged with two counts of auto theft. Kenneth H. Beecher, twenty, 356 S. Prince St., was charged with five counts of car theft and one of burglary. They were prosecuted by Detective Frank Matt before Alderman William A. Hull.
Detectives said that Beecher stole a car owned by Russel Miller, 436 N. Mary St., from near his home Dec. 10th and drove it to Harrisburg where they abandoned it when it ran out of gasoline. They hitched-hiked back to Lancaster.
Other cars the trio stole belonged to Walter G. Gaskins, 601 N. Plum St. on Dec. 10; Amos G. Mowrer, Columbia R1, on Dec. 14; Donald W. Eckert, Dec. 15, and Thomas J. Kirchner, 744 Poplar St., Dec. 17.
The juvenile had previously admitted to burglarizing the YMCA office and the peanut stand of Stergios A. Voulopos, 47 1/2 W. King St. He named Beecher as an accomplice when he burglarized the YMCA reception desk. They were jailed for hearings.

Detective Frank Matt, the prosecutor, testified Pitts admitted being involved in two car thefts with Kenneth Beecher, 356 S. Prince St., who was sentenced in County Court yesterday to White Hill.

Draft Board 85 today announced that it is seeking two men registered for service.
The men and their last known addresses are: John M. Bowers, 156 S. Franklin St., and Kenneth Henry Beecher, 145 S. Queen St.

6. Newspaper: Intelligencer Journal: Man Charged For Firing Gun, 9 Nov 1970, Lancaster, Lancaster, PA. 10 Kenneth H. Beecher, 34, of Columbia R1, was charged with pointing and discharging a deadly weapon following a domestic argument early Saturday morning. Beecher came home about 2 a.m. and became involved in an argument with his wife, Pauline, 32, police said. State police said Beecher was beating his wife when several neighbors came to the home. Police said that Beecher came out and allegedly threatened the gathering neighbors and fired several times in the air. No one was injured by the gunfire. Beecher was charged before Justice of the Peace Mary W. Nissley and was released after his arraignment when he posted $2,000 bail.

7. Obituary: York Daily Record on 18 Apr 2011 in York, York, PA. Kenneth H. Beecher, Sr., 74, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Lancaster Regional Medical Center. He was the companion of Rosalie Johnson of Lancaster. Born on November 19, 1936, in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Evelyn (Hennekey) Beecher Fitez. He was employed as a truck driver for various trucking companies, including Yellow Freight. Mr. Beecher enjoyed driving trucks and H-O model scale trains. He leaves to cherish his memory, his companion, Rosalie; a daughter, Paula Spalla and husband Keith of Hellam; two sons, Kenneth Beecher, Jr. of Lancaster and Maurice Beecher of Columbia; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara of Columbia and Jackie of Lebanon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline (Mumma) Beecher. Services will be private. Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St., York, is entrusted with arrangements.


Kenneth married Pauline Rhoda Mumma, daughter of Alvin Paul Mumma and Lucy Mae Snyder, in Oct 1955.1 (Pauline Rhoda Mumma was born on 6 Mar 1938 in Lancaster, Lancaster, PA,11 12 13 14 died on 2 Sep 1994 in Columbia, Lancaster, PA 1 11 12 13 14 and was buried in Millersville: Millersville Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster, PA 11 12 13.)
