B. F. Beecher, 72, dies attending retirees banquet

Benjamin F. Beecher, seventy-two, 710 1/2 East End Ave., collapsed and died of a heart attack while attending a retirees banquet at Armstrong Cork Co. Thursday afternoon.
A member of the family said Beecher was standing in a banquet room talking to friends when he was stricken. Taken to General Hospital in the hospitals ambulance, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A member of the family said Dr. Gilbert M. Clime, deputy coroner, issued the cause-of-death verdict. The deceased had been under a physicians care.
Beecher, who was a supervisor in the finishing department at Armstrong, retired in 1955 with 47 years service.
A lifetime resident of Lancaster, he was born in Willow Street, a son of the late Jacob and Josephine Dawson Beecher. He and his wife, Nettie S. Stevens Beecher, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1961.
A sports enthusiast and former local athlete, he was a member of the Management Assn, of Armstrong.
Surviving, besides his wife, at home, are these sons and daughter: Melvin H., Gerald F., Betty S., wife of William K. Wise, and James R., all Lancaster, and Donald A., Paradise R1. Also surviving are six grandchildren; a sister, Lula E., wife of Ira K. Denlinger, and a brother, David H. Bleacher, both Lancaster.


Benjamin married Nettie Salome Stevens. (Nettie Salome Stevens was born on 23 May 1894 in , , PA,3 14 18 19 died on 31 Mar 1974 in Lancaster, Lancaster, PA 3 18 19 and was buried in Millersville: Millersville Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster, PA 18 19.)
