Census in 1870 in Providence Twp., Lancaster County, PA. 11 In the 1870 Census in Smithville, John Bleacher, 44, farm laborer, was living with: Catherine, 29; Samuel M., 20, farm laborer; Jacob H., 14, farm laborer; Adam, 12; Peter W., 9; John A., 6; and Ann E, 3. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. 4. Census in 1880 in West Lampeter, Lancaster, PA. 12 The 1880 census recorded Jacob Bleecher, farm laborer, 23, living with his wife, Josephine, 20. They and their parents were born in Pennsylvania. 5. Newspaper: Lancaster Intelligencer: Gun Accident, 12 May 1886, Lancaster, Lancaster, PA. 13 The Gun-Barrel Burst. Jacob Beecher, of West Lampeter township, made a narrow escape from death on Saturday. He was gunning, and with the first discharge of the gun the barrel burst. Mr. Beechor's arm was burned, and that is about all the injury he sustained. Tho barrel was thrown past him very close to his head. 6. Census in 1920 in Lancaster, Lancaster, PA. 7 Renting a home at 729 Rockland St. in Lancaster in the 1920 Census is Benjamin Beacher, age 29, with his wife Nettie, 25; Melvin, 7; and Jerrold, 6. Also with them is Benjamin's father, Jacob, 63, widowed. Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania. Benjamin is a foreman in a linotome? plant and Jacob is a laborer in an electrical plant. 10. Census in 1930 in Lancaster, Lancaster, PA. 14 In the 1930 census in Lancaster, Benjamin F. Beecher, 39, was living with wife Nettie S., 35; son Melvin H., 17; son Gerald F., 16; son Donald A., 10; daughter Selma B., 7; and Benjamin's father Jacob H., 73. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. 11. Obituary: Sunday News: obituary of Jacob H. Beecher on 10 May 1942 in Lancaster, Lancaster, PA. 6 Jacob H. Beecher, eighty-five, died suddenly Saturday at 3:40 a. m. at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ira K. Denlinger, 654 Columbia avenue. Dr. Stanley C. Suter, deputy coroner, of Millersville, said death was due to a heart attack. He was a member of the Pequea Brethren in Christ Church. He was born in Providence Township, the son of the late John A. and Catherine Finefrock Bleacher, and is survived by the following children; Lulu E., wife of Ira K. Denlinger, with whom he resided; David H., William J., Benjamin F., and Clarence S., all of this city. Three brothers also survive, Adam of Puseyville; John A., of Willow Street, and Aldus, of Lancaster RD6. Jacob married Josephine E. Dawson <1880>.1 (Josephine E. Dawson was born on 2 May 1860 in , , PA,1 12 15 16 died on 22 Feb 1903 in Lancaster, Lancaster, PA 2 16 and was buried in Millersville: Millersville Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster, PA 15 16.) Jacob next married Sarah A. Irvin on 8 Feb 1905 in Lancaster, Lancaster, PA.2 (Sarah A. Irvin was born on 2 May 1857 in Drumore Twp., Lancaster, PA,2 17 18 died on 8 Sep 1919 in Lancaster, Lancaster, PA 17 18 and was buried on 11 Sep 1919 in Millersville: Millersville Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster, PA 17 18.) |
