Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Nettie Slon Beecher. He served as an Army staff sergeant during World War II with Company L 149th Infantry in New Guinea, Southern Philippines and Luzon, and was awarded the purple heart for wounds he sustained in the Philippines. Donald worked as a flooring inspector for Armstrong World Industries for 43 years.

He was a member of St. John s United Methodist Church, Lancaster Lodge #43 F. & A. M., Zembo Shrine, A.A.O.N.M.S., Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forest #27 and P. J. Bair V. F. W. Post #7418 in Gap. He enjoyed gardening, bowling and hunting.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughters, Sandra K., wife of Douglas G. Miller of Paradise and Dawn M., wife of Gerald Mellinger of Strasburg; five grandchildren; and his brother, James Beecher. His brothers, Melvin and Gerald Beecher and his sister, Betty Wise, preceded Donald in death.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 7th from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral at 11:00 AM, both at St. John s United
Methodist Church. The Rev. Joseph Puckhaber will officiate. Interment in the adjoining cemetery with military honors accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard. Kindly consider mailing a contribution in Donald's memory to
