Mr. Callaway was born in Middleport, son of the late John and Ida Bassler Callaway. Until retiring five years ago he conducted a grocery store and television repair business at 800 W. Race St. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his widow, the former Caroline G. Beecher; a son, Gerald H., Pottsville; four daughters, Doris L., at home; Grace J., wife of William C. Schuettler, Mrs. Jeanette Bower, both of Pottsville; Joyce M., wife of Francis Schweikert, Newark, Del.; seven grandchildren; one brother, Floyd, Frackville; two sisters, Beulah, wife of George Frantz, Pottsville; Mildred, wife of George Bauscher, Allentown.
Services will be held Wednesday morning in Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Byard J. Ebling officiating. Burial will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park. The Morgan Home for Funerals has charge of arrangements.
