1. Census in 1860 in New Castle Twp., Schuylkill, PA. 1 The 1860 census recorded Henry Houpt, 63, day laborer, living in the home of James Madara, 35, carpenter, and his wife Margaret, 31. Also in the home is Henrietta Jacobs, age 11, who was not living in her parents' home (William J. Jacobs and Henry's daughter Mary) but rather in this home with her grandfather. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. It is presumed that Margaret is Henry's daughter and James his son-in-law. The post office was Broad Mountain in New Castle Township. The census was recorded on June 6, 1870.

2. Census in 1870 in Mahanoy City, Schuylkill, PA. 5 The 1870 census recorded in Mahanoy city: James Madara, carpenter for railroad, 47, living with wife Margaret, 42; and a laborer, Henry Horn, 19. All were born in Pennsylvania. James had no real esate value so was likely renting his home.

3. Newspaper: Pottsville Republican: death of Rebecca Madara, 24 Jan 1903, Pottsville, Schuylkill, PA. 6 MADARA - Jan. 24, 1903. Rebecca, wife of James Madara, of Frackville, aged 74 years. Funeral Tuesday at 2 o'clock, Interment in Odd Fellows' cemetery, Frackville. Friends and relatives respectfully invited.

4. Obituary: Republican and Herald: obutuary of Rebecca Madara on 26 Jan 1903 in Pottsville, Schuylkill, PA. 7 Mrs. Rebecca, wife of James Madara, died at her home in Frackville, Saturday evening. She was 78 years old and was held in high esteem by all who know her. Mrs. Madara is survived by her husband and one sister, Mrs. W. J. Jacobs, Sr. of town. The funeral will take place to-morrow afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Newspaper: Republican and Herald: obutuary of Rebecca Madara, 28 Jan 1903, Pottsville, Schuylkill, PA. 8 The funeral of the late Rebecca, wife of James Madara, took place at Frackville yesterday afternoon. Services were conducted by Rev. Scheifly, of the Evangelicial church, the choir assisting. Interment was made in the Odd Fellows' cemetery. Deceased was a sister of Mrs. William Jacobs, of town. Among these in attendance at the funeral were W. J. Jacobs, Benjamin Beacher and daughter, and R. C. Smith and wife, of town.


Margaret married James Madara, son of Michael Madara and Rebecca Poff. (James Madara was born on 11 Oct 1824 in New Castle Twp., Schuylkill, PA,1 9 10 died on 5 May 1910 in Ringtown, Schuylkill, PA 9 10 and was buried in Frackville: Odd Fellows Cemetery, Schuylkill, PA 9.)
