W. was 26, born May 1874, living with wife Mary, 27, May 1873; Elmer, 7, Jun 1893; Lois, 5, Jan 1895; and an unamed son 2, Jul 1898, who should have been recorded as Leonard. Everyone and their parents were born in Tennessee. Mary had been married for 8 years and birthed 3 children, all alive in 1900. They were renting their home.

On the same census page is David's father, A. N. McClanahan, farmer, 63, Aug 1834, married for 42 years to wife Nancy, 70, Mar 1830. She had birthed 6 children and 5 were alive in 1900. Living with them was Anna Breece, servant, 14, Oct 1883. A. N.'s parents were born in North Carolina, and Nancy's mother in Kentucky, but everyone else was born in Tennessee.

3. Census in 1930 in Civil District 1, Hickman, TN. ⁷ The 1930 census recorded Dave McClanahan, 60, living with wife Mary, 63, and son Robert, 15. Everyone was born in Tennessee.
