Newspaper: Cincinnati Enquirer: Bicker-Ritt Marriage, 18 Feb 1881, Cincinnati, Hamilton, OH. 1 The marriage of Mr. Edwin Bicker [sic] and Miss Sadie Ritt took place last evening at the residence of the bride's parents at Carthage. The wedding was strictly private, the ceremony performed by Rev. Joseph Emery, of Cincinnati. The attendants were Mr. Varner Ritt, brother of the bride, and Miss Sadie Bicker, sister of the groom. The bride was attried in an elegant suit of wine and old gold brocade satin, orange blossoms and diamond ornaments. The groom wore the customary black and looked manly and proud of the prize he had won. The marriage ring being placed on the bride's finger and congratulations received, the party retired to the dining room, and after an elegant supper the happy couple took the train for Columbus, Ohio, the home of the groom. Their many friends wish them a smooth career upon the ocean of life. 2. Census in 1900 in Carthage, Hamilton, OH. 5 The 1900 census recorded owning the home at 129 Second Street: Edwin Bichus [sic], traveling salesman, 42, born May 1858, living with wife Sarah, 42, Apr 1858. They were married for 19 years and she birthed 5 children, all alive in 1900. Living with them were: son John, clerk hardware,18, May 1882; son Earl, 13, Feb 1887; son Roy, 8, Oct 1891; son Herbert, 6, Jan 1894; and daughter Isabel, 4, May 1896. Also in their home was mother-in-law Mary Ritt, widow, 64, Jun 1835, who was married 46 years ago and had birthed 2 children; and brother-in-law Warren Ritt, painter, 45, Oct 1854. Everyone and their parents were born in Ohio except Edwin's and Mary's fathers in Pennsylvania. 3. Census in 1910 in Millcreek Township, Hamilton, OH. 9 The 1910 census recorded at 223 W. Second St: Edwin Samuel Bicher, traveling salesman hardware, 51, living with wife Sarah Sue, 51; Earl Eugene, engineer auto factory, 23; Leroy, 18; Herbert Beins, 16; Isabel, 13; and mother-in-law Mary Ritt, widowed, 74. Edwind and Sarah were married for 28 years and she had birthed 5 children, all alive in 1910. Mary Ritt had birthed 2 children both alive in 1910. Everyone and their parents were born in Ohio, except Edwin's father was born in Pennsylvania. 4. Residence: 1324 Central Avenue, Middletown, OH on 18 Jan 1935 in Middletown, Butler, OH. 7 10 11 Sarah married Edwin Samuel Bicher, son of William M. Beicher and Mary E. Schoffstall, on 17 Feb 1881 in Carthage, Hamilton, OH.1 (Edwin Samuel Bicher was born on 8 May 1858 in Bloom Twp., Fairfield, OH,5 7 12 13 died on 18 Jan 1935 in Middletown, Butler, OH 7 11 13 and was buried on 21 Jan 1935 in Cincinnati: Vine Street Hill Cemetery, Hamilton, OH 7 11 13.) |
