Mrs. Olive Ethel Beecher, 57, wife of J. Earl Beecher, died unexpectedly at 6:30 a. m. Monday at her home, 108 N. 9th Street, Allentown. Born in Pottstown, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Sara (Schick) Leighton. She had been a resident of this city for 14 years, and was of the Methodist faith. Her husband is the proprietor of the Beecher Bicycle shop. Besides her husband she is survived by a son Robert L., Allentown, and two daughters, Mrs. James Smith, Allentown, and Esther L at home. Also surviving are a grandchild, three brothers, Frank B. and Samuel C. both of Pottstown, and two sisters Mrs. Daisy Moser and Mrs. Bertha Carpenter, both of Pottstown.

Obituary: Pottstown Mercury: obituary of Ethel Leighton Beecher. on 5 Jan 1949 in Pottstown, Montgomery, PA. 12 ETHEL (LEIGHTON) BEECHER, wife of Earl Beecher, died Monday morning at the family residence in ALLENTOWN. Born in Pottstown, she had resided in Allentown for the past 15 years. She was a daughter of the late Samuel and Sarah (Shick) Leighton.

Besides her husband, she is survived by three children; a son, Robert, and twin daughters, Ethel and Esther, Allentown, and a grandson, Robert Beecher Jr.; also two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Carpenter, 27 North Adams street; Daisy, wife of Walter Moser, 659 Walnut street; and three brothers. She was a former member of the First Methodist Episcopal church here. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p. m. from a funeral home at 1124 Walnut street. Allentown, with interment in a cemetery in that city.


Olive married John Earl Beecher, son of William Ayers Beecher and Emma Laura Whitman, on 7 Feb 1911 in Pottstown, Montgomery, PA.1 2 (John Earl Beecher was born on 26 Aug 1892 in Pughtown, Chester, PA,2 7 19 20 21 22 died on 22 May 1980 in Bethlehem, Lehigh, PA 21 22 and was buried on 24 May 1980 in Allentown: Grandview Cemetery, Lehigh, PA 7 22.)
