Mitchell, 88, professor emeritus of social studies at Indiana State University, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Cross Funeral Home. Dr. Mitchell died yesterday in a Terre Haute nursing home. He was a teacher and principal at several Indiana public schools from 1907 to 1919. Dr. Mitchell graduated from the University of Chicago in 1922. He taught business and economics at DePauw University from 1927 to 1931 and at Indiana State University from 1931 to 1952. Dr. Mitchell was a member of the American Economics Association and cofoundcr and past president of the Indiana Academy of Social Sciences. Survivors wife Gladys; sons Howard, David; daughters Mrs. Samuel Beecher, Mrs. Ernest Deagan.
