1. Obituary: Marion Star: Daniel B. Krause on 8 Mar 1890 in Marion, Marion, OH. 4 DANIEL B. KRAUSE DEAD. He Dies Early This Morning From Paralysis, after Three Weeks' Illness.
Daniel B. Krause, a well-known and much esteemed citizen of Marion, died at 2 o'clock this morning, aged 64 years. Mr. Krause had been in fairly good health until three weeks ago last Wednesday, attending to his duties at his store on north Main street, when he was suddenly stricken with paralysis. From that he never rallied. Though at times conscious, he could talk but little, and for twelve hours prior to his death he spoke not a word, but passed quietly away as if to sleep. The deceased was a member of Koscuisko Lodge of Odd Fellows, who will have charge of the funeral services. The obsequies will take place Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, from the residence. Mr. Krause was born in Lebanon, Pa. in January, 1826. He came to Ohio when a young man and, after residences at Shelby and Mansfield -- and marrying at the latter place -- he came to Marion, about 1849. His early business career here was a partnership with John Merrill in the merchant tailoring business. Later on he entered the dry goods business, and followed that mercantile line until the fall of 1885, closing his business then on account of poor health. He followed no pursuit for three years, but the desire to engage in business again asserted itself and his health having partially been recovered, he erected a business room on north Main street and entered the grocery business. Here he was engaged when stricken with paralysis that brought about his death. Mr. Krause reared a family of six boys and one girl, all of whom are well to-do, and who are now bereaved by the death of the kind and loving father. Mr. Krause was a quiet and unassuming citizen but one of those reliable men who form the foundation of prosperous and substantial communities, and he was highly esteemed. Those who knew him most intimately were his greatest admirers, a testimonial of his worth that can not be excelled.

Daniel married Sarah Ann Meily, daughter of William Carl Meily and Lydia Anna Biecher, on 15 Jul 1848 in , Richland, OH.1 (Sarah Ann Meily was born on 3 Dec 1827 in Lebanon, Lebanon, PA 5 6, christened on 3 Feb 1828 in Lebanon: Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lebanon, PA,5 died on 20 Jan 1917 in Marion, Marion, OH 2 6 and was buried on 23 Jan 1917 in Marion: Marion Cemetery, Marion, OH 2 6.)
