Thomas on 17 Jun 1937 in York, York, PA. 4 Word was received ehre last evening of the death of F. D. Thomas at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Mary Jefferson, at Gibbstown, N. J., of a complication of diseases after an illness of over two years. The deceased was a lifelong resident of this city, left York two and a half years ago to visit the daughter at Gibbstown. While there he suffered a stroke of apoplexy and was unable to return. Surviving, besides the daughter at whose home death occurred, are three daughters in York: Mrs. Elva M. Beecher and Mrs. Romaine Brenneman, 301 North Queen street, and Mrs. Helen Byers, 16 1/2 East North street. The body will be brought here for services and burial. 3. J., Forrest D. Thomas, aged 72 years and 8 months. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at his residence, 301 N. Queen St., Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in Greenmount cemetery. 4. Obituary: Gazette and Daily: Funeral of Forrest D. Thomas on 21 Jun 1937 in York, York, PA. 5 Funeral services for Forrest D. Thomas, well-known local lodgeman, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mary Jefferson, Gibbstown, N. J. Wednesday, were conducted at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at his home, 301 North Queen street. Rev. N. L. Hummel officiated. The floral tributes were so numerous they required extra automobiles to convey them to the graveside in Greenmount cemetery. The deceased, a retired printer, who was a charter member of Trinity Evangelical Sunday school and a member of the congregation, is survived by a sister, Mrs. Annie Eilleker, York; four daughters, Mrs. Elva M. Beecher and Mrs. Mary Jefferson, both of New Jersey, and Mrs. Helen Byers and Mrs. Romaine Brenneman, both of this city; three granddaughters, three grandsons and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Thomas was a past councilor of Crystal lodge, No. 248, Knights of Pythias, and one of its few members who memorized the lodge degree work, and also a member of the commandery No. 174, Anicient and Illustrious Order Knights of Maita, and Ivy castle, No. 131, Knights of the Mystic Chain. Forrest married Amelia Louise Kidd on 2 Aug 1891 in York, York, PA.1 (Amelia Louise Kidd was born on 19 Jul 1872 in , York, PA,6 8 9 died on 18 Apr 1929 in York, York, PA 8 9 10 and was buried on 20 Apr 1929 in York: Greenmount Cemetery, York, PA 8 9 10.) |
