Census in 1930 in Seward, Seward, NE. 4 The 1930 census recorded Herbert Smith, railroad operator, 46, living with wife Eva, 44; daughter Beryl, 14; daughter Esther, 21; son Darrell, 8; daughter Doris, 5; and son Howard, 2. Also in the home is lodger John O'Dell, 10. Everyone was born in Nebraska except Herbert and his parents in Indiana, and Eva's parents in New York.
3. Census in 1940 in Archer, Merrick, NE. 5 The 1940 census recorded H. S. Smith, railroad depot agent, 56, living with wife Eva E., 54; Beryl M., 24; Darrel S., 18; Doris M., 14; and Howard L., 12. Everyone was born in Nebraska except H.S. in Indiana. In 1935 the family was living in Lincoln, Lancaster, Nebraska.
Eva married Herbert Spencer Smith, son of Elias Smith and Martha Alice Johnson, on 14 Feb 1906 in Seward, Seward, NE. (Herbert Spencer Smith was born on 16 Jan 1884 in Hall, Morgan, IN,6 7 8 died on 1 Feb 1962 in York, York, NE 6 and was buried in York: Greenwood Cemetery, York, NE 6.)
