John A. Sentz, 61, 167 N. Straton St., died Wednesday evening at 5 o'clock in the Warner hospital where he had been admitted Monday. He had been in declining health for the last two years and had been a patient at the hospital a number of times during the period.
A veteran of World War I, he had been active in Democratic affairs for many years and served as a Democratic committeeman. He also had served for some time as a constable in the First Ward of Gettysburg.
A native of Adams County , he was a son of the late David and Nettie (Beecher) Sentz and had resided in Gettysburg for the last 35 years. During most of that time he had been employed at the Gettysburg Furniture Factories as a machine operator.

Services Saturday

He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, of the Albert J. Lentz post of the American Legion, of the VFW Home Association, the Moose, the Eagles, the Gettysburg Fire Department, the Adams County Firemen's Association, the Pennsylvania Fireman's Association and the Veteran Fireman's Association.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Irene Hawk, to whom he would have been wed 40 years on December 24, and these children: John D. Sentz, a chief warrant officer with the U. S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Pine Island, Guy R. Sentz, Edge Grove, Mrs. William Vaughn, Gettysburg R. 4, Mrs. Donald Rombaugh, Gettysburg, and Patsy Sentz, at home.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, and these brothers and sisters. Mrs. Bradley Hoover, Waynesboro, Ernest Sentz, Littlestown, Harry Sentz, Baltimore, Earl Sentz, New Oxford, William Sentz, Taneytown, Guy Sentz, Waynesboro, Edgar Sentz, York, and Donald Sentz, Carlisle.
Funeral services Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Bender Funeral Home, Carlisle St., with the Rev. Dr. Paul L. Reaser officiating. Interment in the Gettysburg National Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home Friday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock.
