Obituary: Mooresville Tribune: obituary of Jean Frady Callaway on 21 Apr 2021 in Mooresville, Iredell, NC. ⁴ Jean Frady Callaway, 79, of Maiden, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021, at her residence. Born July 17, 1941, in Habersham County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Hezekiah Frady and the late Della Mae Benfield. Jean was a member of Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden. She was married to the love of her life, Norman Callaway for 45 years who preceded her in death in 2013. In addition to her parents and husband, son, Stacey Callaway; two brothers, J.C. and Lewis Frady; two sisters, Mary Jane "Dot" Davis and Jewel Joyner Smith also preceded her in death. Her aspirations in life were to be the best Mother, wife and homemaker. Talk to any of her family or friends and they would attest that she surpassed her own aspirations. First and foremost, her relationship with the Lord was most important. She didn't just attend church, she served in many capacities from teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, playing piano, and participating in senior group and Bible studies.
When she walked in a room her personality and smile lit up the room like a ray of sunshine. She never met a stranger and her friends in life are too numerous to count. She and her friends and family had many adventures traveling from Alaska, Hawaii, to just simple day trips. She lived to travel and one of her other mini passions was cooking and baking for friends and family. That's probably going to be one of the most missed aspects according to her family is her Southern cooking absent from her table.
She lived her life according to one of her favorite Bible verses, Ephesians 4:32KJV "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you." Jean Callaway lived Life to its fullest and definitely has taken her place in God's kingdom. She will be will be truly missed by her friends and family. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Deborah Snipes and husband, Joe of Columbia, S.C.; Karen Marshall and husband, Roger, of Ponce Inlet, Fla.; three bonus sons, Jeff Callaway of Hudson; Todd Callaway of Asheville; Scott Callaway of Mocksville; nine grandchildren, Chris Beeker and wife, Heather, LaDonna Beeker, Meagan Strelka, Joey Snipes, III and wife, Hannah, Tyler Callaway, Preston Witherspoon, Natalie Witherspoon, Abby Callaway, Sam Callaway; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; four brothers, Orell Frady of Sherwood, Ga., Corbin Frady of Clarksville, Ga., Lloyd Frady and wife, Jean, of Toccoa, Ga., and Bobby Frady and wife, Gladys, of Mt. Airy, Ga. A funeral service was scheduled for Monday, April 19, at 11 a.m., at Providence Road Baptist Church with Pastor Lee McNeal officiating.
Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m., at the church, prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Providence Road Baptist Church, in Maiden.
