1. Obituary: The Daily Item on 18 Jun 1973 in Sunbury, Northumberland, PA. ⁴ Homer L. Houston, 62, of 233 E. Seventh St., died Sunday morning at the Leader Nursing Center, Jersey Shore. Mr. Houston had been in failing health for five months and had been hospitalized at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg, on May He was admitted to the Leader Nursing Center on June 13.
He was born Feb. 15, 1911 in Troutman RD, N.C., and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Lee Houston. He had been employed for 16 years by the Watsontown Foundary.
Mr. Houston was a member of the Milton Moose Lodge 171 and the Wesley Methodist Church, Troutman, N.C. He was a former resident of Baltimore, Md., and moved to Watsontown in 1997. He married the former Dorothy Bucher Dec. 14, 1957, at the Watsontown United Church of Christ parsonaged.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by two brothers, J. Bruce Houston of Baltimore, Md., and Flake S. Houston of Troutman, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Herbert E. Barr Funeral Home, Watsontown, with the Rev. Victor Ruth officiating. Burial will be made in the Harmony Cemetery, Milton. There will be no visitationTuesday night, but friends will be received at the funeral home Wednesday morning prior to the service.
