Deceased: Adam Fishel, late of Codorus Township, York County, Pennsylvania. Date of Court: November 28, 1868. Status of Deceased: Died intestate (without a will). Heirs and Legal Representatives (Petitioners): Widow: Rachel Fishel (her mark is attested by Benj. Leese). Minor Children given to Guardians: George Wesley Fishel (Guardian: Michael Sabel). Sarah Ann Fishel (Guardian: Jacob Brodbeck). Luzetta Fishel (Guardian: Barney Spangler). Property Description: The deceased died seized of a messuage, plantation, and tract of land (a house, farm, and parcel of land) located in Codorus Township, York County. Size: Forty-four acres and thirty poles (neat measure, more or less). Adjoining Landowners (Boundaries): Michael Sable, John Stamp, John A. Swartzbaugh, Samuel M. Bollinger, and John S. Wade (deceased). The petitioners (heirs and their representatives) asked the Court to appoint three individuals to manage the disposition of the real estate: Appointees: John Snyder of P., Daniel Brodick, and Henry Rebert. Requested Action: To first attempt to make partition (divide the land) among the heirs and representatives according to the laws of the Commonwealth, provided such division could be made without prejudice to or spoiling the whole. If partition could not be made, then to value and appraise the property and report their findings to the Court according to law. The facts were sworn to and subscribed by Michael Sabel (one of the guardians) before the court on the same day.
2. Census in 1870 in Manheim Twp., York, PA. 4 The 1870 census recorded Rachel Fissel, widow, 40, with her children: George, 15; Anna, 14; and Lucy, 12. There was no real estate value and personal estate was $200. All were born in Pennsylvania. The post office was Xenia. Next door is Rachel's sister's home... H. H. Sharer, farmer, 44, living with wife Susanna, 50; and son William, 13. Their real estate was valued at $3000 and personal estate $500. All were born in Pennsylvania.
