Mr. and Mrs. Thomas P. Smith of Rt. 6, Vincennes, announce the birth of a son, Sean Thomas, on April 11. Their first child, he weighed 11 pounds, 1 1/2 ounces. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Beecher of Vincennes and Mr. and Mrs. Don Smith of Birmingham, Ala., and great-grandparents are Mrs. Myrtle Goodman of Linton, Mrs. Gertrude Beecher of Vincennes and M. Thomas Walton of Shoals and the late Mrs. Ruth Walton. Great-great-grandmother is Mrs. Walton of Loogootee.

Obituary: Vincennes Sun-Commercial: obituary of Thomas Patrick Smith on 1 Aug 2014 in Vincennes, Knox, IN. ³ Thomas "Tom" Patrick Smith, 63, of Vincennes passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the Deaconess Heart Hospital in Evansville. He was born on Feb. 28, 1951, to Donald and Phyllis Smith in Moline, Illinois. He received his bachelor's degree from Birmingham Southern College and his master's in education from Indiana State University. He was a professor of psychology for 37 years at Vincennes University. Tom was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he participated in the choir. He enjoyed reading, listening to music and learning. Tom is survived by his best friend and partner of 11 years, Susan Meier of Vincennes; the daughter of his heart, Isabella Meier; his eldest son, Sean Smith, along with Sean's four children: Larisa, Gavin, Brielle and Fallon; his youngest son, Matthew Smith and his wife, Holly, and their son, Thomas; his father, Donald Smith; his four siblings, David, Steve, Barbara and Lisa and her husband, Bob, and their daughter, Bonny. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Milford Thomas Walton, and his mother, Phyllis Smith. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Wagner officiating. A private burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Goodwin Funeral Home has been entrusted to the arrangements. In honor of Tom's memory and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Heart Association.

Thomas married Linda Lee Beecher, daughter of Walter Vernon Beecher Jr. and Rosemarie Goodman, on 9 Apr 1977 in Vincennes, Knox, IN.^{1 2} (Linda Lee Beecher was born on 6 Jan 1956 in Frankfort, Clinton, IN ^{6 7}.)
