Miss Bettye Lou Brooks of 403 Erwin Apartments, Durham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Alston Brooks of Siler City, was united in marriage with Robert O. Beeker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude C. Beeker of Albemarle last evening at 8 o'clock at the First Presbyterian Church here. Dr. Kelsey Regen, pastor of the church, was the officiating minister. The church was decorated with floor baskets of white gladioli and with white chrysanthemums and pompons and the altar was banked with palms and ferns. Three candelabra bearing white tapers completed the nuptial setting. Prior to the ceremony a program of wedding music was rendered by William Pbwell Twaddell, organist and director of music at the First Presbyterian Church. A member of the church choir sang "My Rosary," "I Love You Truly," and "Because." "Indian Love Call" was softly played during the speaking of the vows. The traditional wedding marches were used. The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Hugh W. Dixon of Siler City. She wore a navy blue suit with black accessories and white gloves and carried a bouquet of white mixed flowers centered with an orchid corsage. Matron of Honor Mrs. Roy G. Burkhalter Jr. of Columbia S.C. was matron of honor and the bride's only attendant. She wore a burnt orange suit with black accessories and a corsage of white roses. Edward Carr Beeker, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Ernest E. Brooks, brother of the bride of Siler City and W. K. Wilson, brother-in-law of the bridegroom of Albemarle. The mother of the bride wore a black suit with black accessories and a corsage of red roses. Mrs. Beeker, mother of the bridegroom, chose a light gray suit with black accessories and a corsage of pink roses.
Reception immediately following the ceremony.
Mrs. Brooks, mother of the bride, entertained at a reception for the bridal couple, members of the two families and a few close friends at 403 Erwin Apartments. The three-tiered wedding cake was cut by the bride and bridegroom at this time. Mr. and Mrs. Beeker left for a wedding trip to Western North Carolina after the reception. For traveling the bride wore the suit in which she was married and pinned at her shoulder the corsage lifted from her bridal bouquet. Upon their return they will make their home at the Erwin Apartments, this city. Out-of-town guests included Mrs. Robert Alston Brooks of Siler ,City, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest E. Brooks of Siler City, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh W. Dixon of Siler City, the Rev. and Mrs. Clyde A. Brooks of Union, S. C., Mr. and Mrs. Roy G. Burkhalter Jr. of Columbia S. C., Mr. and Mrs. Claude C. Beeker of Albemarle, Bill Beeker of Albemarle and Miss Maudien Austin of Albemarle.

5. Obituary: Greensboro News & Record: obituary of Bettye Brooks Beeker on 10 Apr 2005 in Greensboro, Guilford, NC. 4 GREENVILLE -- Bettye Brooks Beeker, 80, of Victoria Court, died Friday, April 8, 2005, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today at the mausoleum in Guilford Memorial Park, Greensboro.
Mrs. Beeker was born in Siler City on Jan. 7, 1925, to the late Ava Edwards Brooks and Robert Alston Brooks. Mrs. Beeker attended Pheiffer College. She worked in government with the IRS and the Greensboro Housing Authority for many years. She attended Peace Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Beeker was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Oscar Beeker and two brothers, Clyde Brooks and Ernest Brooks.
She is survived by her sons, David C. Beeker and wife Debbie of Gastonia and Robert T. Beeker and wife Frankie of Greenville; and her daughter, Jan B. Brown and husband John of Walnut Cove; seven grandchildren, Suzanne B. Perdue, Jennifer B. Trauberman, Robbie Beeker, Amanda Beeker, Timothy Lemons, Adam Brown and Andrew Brown; and four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lois Burkhalter of Columbia, S.C. also survives.


Bettye married Robert Oscar Beeker, son of Claude Carr Beeker Sr. and Georgia Jewell Thompson, on 12 Oct 1946 in , Durham, NC.1 (Robert Oscar Beeker was born on 15 Aug 1921 in , Stanly, NC,3 9 10 11 12 died on 25 Dec 1973 in Durham, Durham, NC 3 5 10 11 and was cremated on 29 Dec 1973 in Greensboro: Guilford Memorial Park, Guilford, NC 3.)


Bettye next married Charles James Hackney in Aug 1979 in Greensboro, Guilford, NC.2 (Charles James Hackney was born on 30 Jan 1913 in , Chatham, NC,13 14 died on 11 Oct 1993 in Siler City, Chatham, NC 13 14 and was buried on 14 Oct 1993 in Bonlee, Chatham, NC 13 14.)
