Newspaper: The Item: A1C Beeker Named Top April Airman, 15 Apr 1970, Sumter, Sumter, SC. ¹¹ AIC David C Beeker of the 728th Tactical Control Squadron's Control and Reporting Center's (CRC) tele-communications operation has been named Shaw's Airman of the Month for April. Airman Beeker came to Shaw from the 2008th Communications Squadron, Peshawar, Pakistan in November. He immediately went to work in the 728th TCS's Technical Control Facility which has responsibility for CRC tele-communications operations. Shaw's Airman of the Month hails from Greensboro, N.C. and is a graduate of Jamestown High School, Jamestown, N.C. Beeker entered the Air Force in late 1968 attending Technical Training School at Keesler AFB, Miss. where he graduated a Tele-communications Systems Control Specialist-Attendant. His duties include aligning of channels of communication, trouble shooting circuits, quality control, mediating for equipment maintenance, and reporting circuit analyses to determine percentages of reliability. The office in which Beeker works is a small air-conditioned mobile van placed neatly behind the CRC. Here amongst switchboards and cables he fulfills his assigned tasks in his off-duty hours. Beeker enjoys painting, hiking, golfing, swimming and participating in Shaw's Boy Scout program as an assistant scoutmaster. Beeker, his wife Deborah, and their seven month old daughter Suzanne reside in Sumter.

GASTONIA - David Christopher Beeker, 57, of, Gastonia, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2008 at his residence. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Founders Chapel, McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia, 700 South New Hope Road, officiated by the Rev. Tim Pack. Entombment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park Mausoleum

He was a native of Chatham County and was the son of the late Robert Oscar Beeker and Bettye Lou Brooks Beeker. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Beeker was associated with Wix/Affinia for over 29 years where he began his career in the Gard Division as a sales representative before becoming a trainer and division manager. For a number of years he served as Product Development Manager and at the time of his death served as Purchasing Materials Manager. He was a private pilot and enjoyed flying as well as golf and painting. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife of 39 Years, Deborah Reid Beeker; daughters, Suzanne Perdue of Reidsville and Jennifer Trauberman of Raleigh; grandson, Timothy Beam of Gastonia; brother, Robert Beeker of Washington, N.C.; and sister, Janet Brown of Walnut Cove.
