3. Biography: Written by Rayvon Tysinger, "Tysingers of Davidson County", in 2008. 2 Adam Tysinger, born around 1756, is the first known Tysinger ancestor to live in Davidson County, North Carolina (actually Rowan County at that time). The first record for Adam Tysinger in Rowan County, NC, was in 1778, when he applied for a Land Grant. The land office re-opened in 1778, having closed in 1765. It is possible that Adam was in Rowan County earlier than 1778. After Adam paid the taxes (50 shillings for every 100 acres) and the land was surveyed, he was awarded State Grant #1003 on 4 November 1784 for 390 acres of fertile farmland. His grant was located on the south side of Stoney Run creek near its intersection with present day Holly Grove Road ( map ). A deed description dated 4 November 1784, in which Adam is listed as Frederick Dickinger, is on file at the archives of Rowan County. Curiously, he remained the owner of this grant for less than three years, transferring the land to Philip Coontz on 14 May 1787.

Adam is listed in the 1784 Rowan County Tax List of Captain Frederick Smith's District and in the First Census of the United States, Salisbury District, Rowan County in the year 1790.

Adam married Sara Summey in 1783-1784 and they had seven children; Peter (b. ca 1786, d. 1876), Adam II (b. ca 1788, d. 1844), Polly (b. ca 1791), Rebecca (b. ca 1794), Barbara (b. ca 1796), Michael (b. ca 1804, d. between 1870 and 1880), and Magdelena (b. 7 Aug 1806, d. before 1821). Adam and his family eventually resettled in southern Davidson County in the Silver Hill community. There the family farmed and worked at the Silver Hill mine during the 1800's.

Adam's original will, signed 23 November 1821, is filed at the NC Archives in Raleigh. Adam died in 1822 and is buried in Rowan County, perhaps at Beck's Reformed Church, as he attended there.

Adam married Sara Summey about 1783 in , Rowan, NC. (Sara Summey was born about 1766 and died before Nov 1821 in Silver Hill, Davidson, NC.)
