She was a resident of Brookshire Nursing Center since June 2011. She was born on December 18, 1918 to Roland Boyd and Estella Beeker Stacy. She was retired from Cone Mills. Hazel was the last remaining of her 8 siblings. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard William 'Jack' Rook; and a grandson, Michael Thomas Porterfield. Hazel enjoyed her church and the people that always cared for her and taking her out to eat. She was always ready to go out, even two weeks before her death.

Hazel was survived by her daughters, Sharon Rook Williams (Larry) and Carole Rook King (Thomas Gray) and Jackie Anderson; and two grandchildren and three-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Friday 2:00 p.m. at Clements Funeral Chapel in Hillsborough. Burial will follow at the Hillsborough Town Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home in Hillsborough, and other times at the home of Sharon William, 6632 Johnson Mill Road, Durham, NC, 27712. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Duke Hospice at Meadowlands, 1001 Corporate Drive, Hillsborough, NC 27278.

The family would like to thank the wonderful care that she received from Duke Hospice and how they made her comfortable in her last remaining days there.
We cannot thank William and Joanna Parker for all the care they gave to her with dr. appointments and the many many trips to Bojangles and Wendy's. They always would change their schedule to accommodate her appointments.
