Doris L. Schwartz, 89, 2717 Echo Lane, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, at Saint Vincent Health Center after a brief illness.
She was born March 22, 1914, in Erie, daughter of the late John and Ruby Chadbourne Beecher. She formerly lived at 946 E. 28th St.
She was retired and had worked for Peoples Drug Store, Rea & Derrick Drug Store and Brown & Jones Drug Store.
She was a 1932 graduate of Strong Vincent High School.
A member of Glenwood United Methodist Church, she also was a member of the church Character Builders Class.
She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics and reading.
Survivors include her husband, Robert J. Schwartz; a daughter, Lois Porte and her husband, Jeffrey, of Platea; a son, Robert C. "Bud" Schwartz and his wife, Dolores, of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, Donald Beecher and his wife, Betty, of Medina, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave. A service will be held there Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. J. Patrick Lenox of Glenwood United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
