All were born in Pennsylvania. 2. Census in 1860 in Brecknock Twp., Lancaster, PA. 3 The 1860 Census for Brecknock Township recorded Jacob Bicher, farmer, 42, living with wife Sarah, 36; Jeremiah, 14; Rebecca, 12; Catherine 7; John, 5; Lydia, 3; and Susana, 1. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. 3. Census in 1870 in Brecknock Twp., Lancaster, PA. 14 Jeremiah Bicher appears in the 1870 Census in Brecknock Township as a 22-year old farm laborer living on the farm owned by Samuel Keiffer, age 59 and his wife Susan, 58, and their daughter, Elizabeth, 17. Charles Bicher, age 36, farmer, lived with wife Lizzie, 37; Mary Ann, 9, and James, 9. 5. Agricultural Census census in 1880 in Brecknock Twp., Lancaster, PA. 15 Charles Bicher, owner, has 30 tilled acres, 1 permanent meadows, 1 acre woodland forests, 18 acres unimproved land, valued at $2000. His farm machinery is valued at $200; livestock, $300; fences, $25; fertilizers, $25. Wages paid for farm labor, $25; weeks of hired labor, 6; estimated value of all farm production, $250. Acres of grass mown, 10; 10 tons of hay harvested. He had 3 horses, 2 milch cows, 5 other cattle, 2 calves dropped, 1 cattle slaughtered, 200 pounds butter, 4 swine, 20 poultry in the barnyard, and 100 dozen eggs produced. He produced 4 acres Indian corn, 100 bushels Indian corn, 4 acres of oats, 100 bushels of oats, 1/4 acre rye, 3 bushels rye, 4 acres wheat, 48 bushels wheat, 1/2 acre Irish potatoes, 50 bushels Irish potatoes, 1/4 acre with 15 apple trees. 5 cords of wood cut valued at $5. 6. Census in 1900 in Brecknock Twp., Lancaster, PA. 16 Jeremiah Bicher is listed in the 1900 Census for Brecknock Township as age 56, born in Feb 1844. This is a different date than reported on his tombstone record. The record states he was married for 29 years to his wife, Elizabeth, born Oct 1841. She had a total of two children and both were alive in 1900. Both are reported being in the household: James, born Jan 1871; and Mary born Jan 1871. Jeremiah is employed as a farmer. 7. Obituary: Lancaster Daily Intelligencer on 26 Jun 1911 in Lancaster, Lancaster, PA. 17 Jeremiah Bicher, a well known resident, of Brecknock township, died this morning, after a long illness, from heart disease. He was 65 years old, a farmer and member of the Lutheran church. His wife, one sone, James, and a daughter, Lillie, survive. 11. Obituary: Lancaster Examiner: Death in Brecknock on 28 Jun 1911 in Lancaster, Lancaster, PA. 7 Jeremiah Bicher died at 4 o'clock on Monday at his home in Brecknock township. Deceased was about sixty-five years of age and death was due to heart trouble after an illness of several weeks. He was a farmer by occupation and was a member of the Lutheran church. His wife, a son, James, and a daughter, Lillie, both at home, and several brothers and sisters survive. Jeremiah married Elizabeth Kiefer, daughter of Moses Kiefer and Elizabeth Lesher, in 1870.1 (Elizabeth Kiefer was born on 9 Oct 1843 in Brecknock Twp., Lancaster, PA,2 18 died on 1 Aug 1918 in East Earl Twp., Lancaster, PA 18 and was buried on 5 Aug 1918 in East Cocalico Twp.: Muddy Creek Church Cemetery, Lancaster, PA 2 18 19.) |
