Census in 1850 in Brecknock Twp., Lancaster, PA. 4 The 1850 census recorded Elizabeth Kiefer, 49, living with her two children: Lydia, 10; and Eliza, 6. She had no occupation and had real estate valued at $800. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. Her immediate neighbors are Benjamin Stover, cooper, 57, and his wife Anna, 29; and Samuel Laush, farmer, 52, and his wife Nancy, 42. 2. Census in 1870 in Brecknock Twp., Lancaster, PA. 5 Jeremiah Bicher appears in the 1870 Census in Brecknock Township as a 22-year old farm laborer living on the farm owned by Samuel Keiffer, age 59 and his wife Susan, 58, and their daughter, Elizabeth, 17. Samuel's real estate was valued at $3500 and his personal estate $1486. The post office was Bowmansville. 3. She signed a will on 14 May 1872 in Brecknock Twp., Lancaster, PA. 6 In the name of God, Amen, I, Elizabeth Kieffer, widow of Moses Kieffer, of the township of Brecknock in the County of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania, do make, publish and declare, this to be my Last Will and Testament in manner and form as follows to wit : It is my will and I order and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be in the first place fully paid and satisfied as soon as convenient after my decease, by my Executor hereinafter named. I give and bequeath the whole of my estate, whether consisting of household furniture, farming implements, farm stock or of any nature whatsoever as well as all my ready money or whatsoever monies may be due me or notes, bonds, book accounts or otherwise unto my daughter Eliza, wife of Jeremiah Bicher absolutely. The foregoing bequest I make to my daughter Eliza alone, because she has thus far shown her true devotion to me, cared for me in sickness, and in health and believing that she will continue the same unto the day of my death I nominate and appoint my son-in-law, Jeremiah Bicher, to be the Executor of this my last will and testament, deeming myself of sound mind memory and understanding in making the foregoing : I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy two, ( (1872).
