SUMMITVILLE -- Mrs. Merrill Beher and Mrs. Ralph Kane were hostesses for a family baby shower honoring Mrs. Tom Beher Sunday afternoon at the Beher home. Contest prizes were awarded to Mrs. Doris Frix, Mrs. Ann Miller and Mrs. Martha Trissell, and a gift presented to the great grandmother, Mrs. Nora Carr. Family members attending were Mrs. Joan Baker and her daughter, Mrs. Andrew Wilson, and Mrs. Nora Carr of Elwood; Mrs. Helen Nowosielski, Indianapolis, and her daughter, Mrs. Theresa Bender of Lafayette; Mrs. Martha Trissell, Santa Barbara Calif.; Mrs. Ann Miller, Mrs. Jane Carr, of North Vernon; Mrs. Janae Kane, Miss Debbie Wise, of Muncie; Mrs. Dan Beher of Leisure; Mrs. Zelpha McCarty, Mrs. Doris Frix, Miss Becky Kane, of Alexandria; Mrs. Emily Skroback, of Memphis, Tenn., Mrs. Joame Nave and daughter, Sharon of Fairmount. Those sending gifts were Mrs. Patsy Baker, Miss Denise Nowosielski, Mrs. Linda Burns and Mrs. Connie Curry.

While visiting here, she was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Dan Beher on a boating expedition to Cicero on a day's outing. She is expected to return here for a few days visit before returning home to Concord.

She was born Aug. 2, 1913, in Carmi, Ill., the daughter of Walter and Nora A. (Neal) Carr. Mae was a cashier at Eavey's Supermarket in Anderson and Cox's Supermarket in Alexandria.

She attended St. Joseph School and Elwood High School. Mae married Merrill Beher on Oct. 30, 1936. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Alexandria. Mae later married Willis A. Sturm on May 26, 2001. She volunteered at the Alexandria Food Bank and Mercy Hospital in Elwood. She enjoyed flowers, cooking, and baking cherry pies.

Mae's family includes children, Marilyn Grande of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Thomas (Nancy) Beher of Summitville, and Daniel (Linda) Beher of Leisure; sister, Joan Baker of Elwood; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Merrill Beher; second husband, Willis A. Sturm; daughter, Dorothy "Dottie" Wise; five brothers, James Carr, Bernard Carr, Michael Carr, Thomas Carr and Joseph Carr; and two sisters, Helen Nowosielski and Martha Trissell.

A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Church in Alexandria with Father Dan Duff. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Elwood.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with a Rosary at 6 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Parkview Care Center Activity Fund.
