Rushville Man With Business Connections Here Almost 40 Years Expires Early Today

Fred B. Johnson, age fifty-eight ears, who was in business in Rushville almost forty years, died at his home, 219 West Second street, at three o'clock this morning. He suffered a stroke of apoplexy last Thursday evening and physicians attending him never held out any hope for his recovery, although relatives and friends had been encouraged up until Monday afternoon because he appeared to be improving. Mr. Johnson came to Rushville in 1882 and was first connected with a drug store in West Second street, with his father and brother, Charles Johnson, now of Indianapolis. His father died in 1887 and Mr. Johnson soon afterwards opened the drug store in Main street, where he remained in business until his death. Mr. Johnson was born in Monrovia, Morgan county, Indiana, February 28, 1863 and was married February 13, 1887 to Anne E. Beher of this city. He was a member of the Elks, Knights of Pythias and Uniform Rank, K. of P. lodges. The deceased is survived by the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Walter Hubbard ot this city, and a brother and sister, Charles Johnson and Miss Ella Johnson of Indianapolis.
