Joseph Beecher, 88, a resident of Dyersville Ia for the past 72 years, died at Mercy Hospital at 4:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, after three weeks' illness. The body is at the Hoffmann Mortuary, where friends may call after 6 o'clock Sunday evening. The funeral will be held Tuesday morning from the funeral home at 8 o'clock to St. Clement's church at Bankston. Burial will be in St. Clement's Cemetery. He was born May 12, 1855 in Mineral Point Wis, and came to Dubuque County at the age of 15 and has resided in Dubuque County since. He was a cement contractor, member of the Catholic Church and attended St. Francis Church at Dyersville. The deceased is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Roy Truher, Manchester, Mrs. H.T. Glaza, Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Harold Grutzmacher, Chicago; four sons, Albert and Joseph of Dubuque, Zachary of Fillmore and Frank of Delhi, one brother, Fred Beecher of Warren, Ill., a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral of Joseph Beecher Sr. of Dyersville, who died at Mercy Hospital here Saturday afternoon, was held from the Hoffmann Mortuary to St. Clement's Church at Bankston Tuesday morning, the Rev. William A. Banfield officiating. Father Banfield delivered a sermon and also said the prayers at the graveside in St. Clement's Cemetery. Pallbearers were George Wolf, Elmer Wolf, Emil Pins, Tom Leibold, Carl Pins and Alvin Dolan. Here for the services from out of the city were Mr. And Mrs. Earl Truher, Manchester Ia., Mrs. H.J. Glaza, Cedar Rapids Ia., Mrs. Harold Grutzmacher, Chicago; Mrs. Zachary Beecher, Fillmore, and Mr. And Mrs. Frank Beecher, Delhi, Ia.
