1. Census in 1850 in Upper Leacock Twp., Lancaster, PA. 5 The1850 census recorded Josiah Bitzer, laborer, 19, livign with wife Elizabeth, 20; Christiana Star Bitzer, 3; and Mahlon Thompson Bitzer, 1. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania.

2. Census in 1860 in East Earl Twp., Lancaster, PA. 6 7 Listed in the 1860 Census in East Earl Township in Lancaster County is Jesse Bitzer, age 28, day laborer. He is married to Eliza, age 33. Living with them: Christiana, 13; Mary Jane, 8; Maranda, 6; Jesiah, 3; and Sarah M., 1. Jesse does not own real estate and his possessions are worth $200. Also in their home is Eliza's brother, Benjamin Muckel, 27. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. The post office was Blue Ball.

3. Census in 1870 in Caernarvon Twp., Lancaster, PA. 8 The 1870 census recorded Jesse Bitzer, laborer, 38, living with wife Eliza, 42; Emma, 8; and Lydia A., 3. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. Jesse's real estate was valued at $1100 and personal estate $300. The post office was Terre Hill.

4. Census in 1880 in East Earl Twp., Lancaster, PA. 9 The 1880 census recorded Jesse Bitzer, cigar maker, 48, living with wife Elisa, 53; Matilda, cigar maker, 21; Emma, cigar maker, 18; and Alice, cigar maker, 13. Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania. On the next census page is Jesse's son recorded as J. M. Bitzer, (aka Jesse), cigar maker, age 22, with his wife Mary, 20, and a son, Harry, 3.

5. Census in 1900 in Cumru Twp., Berks, PA. 1 John Beacher (as indexed in the census, but handwriting could even be John Beecher or John Bucher) appears in the 1900 Census in Cumru Township in Berks. He was born Aug 1851 and was living with his wife, Amanda, born Dec 1854. They had been married 26 years and gave birth to 10 children, 7 of whom were still alive in 1900. Recorded at home in the Census were daughter Ella, born Jun 1877; Mary born Sep 1882; Harry born Mar 1884; John born Jun 1888; Carrie born Oct 1890; Minnie born Jun 1895; mother-in-law Elizabeth Bitzer born Sep 1825. John is employed as a hat stiffener. Elizabeth Bitzer was born in Pennsylvania as were her parents.

Mrs. Elizabeth Bitzer, widow of Jesse Bitzer, died at the residence of her son-in-law, John Bicher, at Mohnton, of a complication of diseases. Mrs. Bitzer was in her 88th year and is survived by these children: Mrs. Christian Rettew, Mrs. John Bicher, both of Mohnton; Jesse, Lancaster County, Mrs. Abraham Lawrence and Miss Alice Bitzer, both of New York.


Elizabeth married Jesiah Bitzer. (Jesiah Bitzer was born on 6 Nov 1831 in Ephrata, Lancaster, PA 7, christened on 30 Aug 1834 in Ephrata: Bethania Reformed Church (Bethany), Lancaster, PA, USA,10 died on 1 Jul 1885 in Terre Hill, Lancaster, PA 7 and was buried in Terre Hill: Terre Hill Cemetery, Lancaster, PA 7.)
