Census in 1900 in Elwood, Madison, IN. 6 The 1900 census recorded renting at 115 North 13th Street in Elwood: Samuel Beher, fireman, 38, born Oct 1862, living with wife Mary, 35, born Feb 1865. They had been married for 8 years and she had birthed 2 children, none aliver in 1900. They and their parents were born in Indiana except Mary's mother in Ohio. 3. Census in 1910 in Indianapolis, Marion, IN. 7 The 1910 census recorded renting at 716 Walnut Street: Samuel S. Beher, fireman on locomotive, 48, living with wife Mary, 45, and son Sherman H. [as indexed, the handwritten A. looks like an H.], 5, and Mary's mother, Serelda E. Bowlin, 69. Samuel and Mary were married for 18 years and their parents were born in Indiana. Serelda was born in Ohio, her father in Kentucky and mother in Pennsylvania, and she was married for 53 years, giving birth to 7 children, 4 alive in 1910. 4. Newspaper: Tipton Daily Tribune: Sherman Allen Beher Returned to Detroit, 18 Aug 1928, Tipton, Tipton, IN. 8 Sherman Allen Beher, who is employed at Detroit, has been spending a week's vacation with his mother, Mrs. Mary Beher on Court street, returned to Detroit Saturday to resume his work. Other dinner guests with Mrs. Beher Friday were Mrs. Elizabeth Beher and daughter, Mary, of Frankton, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Weser and son of Leisure and Mrs. Ella McMahon of Noblesville. 5. Newspaper: Noblesville Ledger: Mrs. Beher Injured in Car Wreck, 10 Aug 1929, Noblesville, Hamilton, IN. 9 Mrs. Mary Beher and son, Sherman, former residents of Arcadia, but now of Tipton, were mixed up in an auto wreck Sunday afternoon about 2:30 near Wilkinson, in Hancock county. Mrs. Beher sustained injuries internally and bruises which are feared will be serious while the son was cut about the head but his hurts are not serious. The accident at a cross road intersection which was obstructed by a corn field ard a building and neither driver saw the other car until too late to avoid the impact. The Ford coupe the Behers were driving was turned over several times and was almost demolished. The Ogle and Little ambulance, of Tipton, was called to the scene of the accident and took the injured woman back to Tipton to the home of her sister, Mrs. Effie Manford. Mr. Beher, the son, lives in Detroit and had come to visit his mother and they were on their way to Rushville when the accident occurred. Mrs. Beher and son were in Arcadia several years conducting a restaurant and are well known here. 6. She and her father were born in Indiana and mother in Ohio. 7. Census in 1940 in Tipton, Tipton, IN. 2 The 1940 census recorded renting at 131 1/2 South Main Street in Tipton: Mary May Beher, widowed, 74, living alone. She was born in Indiana. She lived in the same place in 1935. 8. Cause of Death: cardiac failure due to broncho pneumonia, 6 May 1950, Indianapolis, Marion, IN. 3 9. Obituary: The Call-Leader: Mary Beher, 85, Dies Saturday in Hospital on 8 May 1950 in Elwood, Madison, IN. 4 --- Mary married Samuel Isaac Beher, son of Marcus B. Beher and Mary Elizabeth Dill, on 12 Oct 1892 in Tipton, Tipton, IN. The marriage ended in divorce. (Samuel Isaac Beher was born on 23 Oct 1862 in Jackson Township, Rush, IN,11 died on 18 Sep 1938 in Fort Worth, Tarrant, TX 11 and was buried on 19 Sep 1938 in Fort Worth: Greenwood Memorial Park, Tarrant, TX 11.) |
