Everyone and their parents were born in Indiana. 2. Census in 1930 in Battle Ground, Tippecanoe, IN. 7 The 1930 census recorded renting a home for $15 a month: Harry Chenoweth, machine operator in factory, 42, living with wife Hazel, 34; son John T., 10, and daughter Mary J., 4. Everyone and their parents were born in Indiana. Harry married at age 30 and Hazel at 22. 3. Census in 1940 in Tippecanoe Township, Tippecanoe, IN. 8 The 1940 census recorded owning a home on County Line Gravel Road in Tippecanoe Township: Dora Beeker, widowed, farm owner, 70, living with her grandson, Jack Chenoweth, laborer, 20. They were born in Indiana and lived in the same house in 1935. 4. Cause of Death: heart attack, acute myocardial infarction, 10 Feb 1975, Lafayette, Tippecanoe, IN. 5 5. Born in Battle Ground, he had lived most of his life in the Lafayette area. In 1942 he was married at Monticello to Marianna Bowman who survives. A stores supervisor for Alcoa for 36 years, Mr. Chenoweth was a member of Elks Lodge 143 and American Legion Post 11. He was a past master of Battle Ground Masonic Lodge 313 and a past deacon of Bethany Presbyterian Church. A veteran of World War II, he had served on Saipan with the Seabees. Surviving with the wife are a son, John "Jack" Jr. of Lafayette; a daughter, Mrs. Alan (Elizabeth Ann) Jones of East Lansing, Mich.; his mother, Mrs. Hazel Chenoweth of Pontiac, Mich., and one sister, Mrs. Mary Jo Collier of Flint, Mich. 6. Residence: 2441 Edgelea Drive, Lafayette, IN on 10 Feb 1975 in Lafayette, Tippecanoe, IN. 5 John married Marianna Bowman on 25 Sep 1942 in Monticello, White, IN.1 (Marianna Bowman was born on 14 Nov 1915 in Monticello, White, IN,1 died on 10 Dec 2007 in Cary, Wake, North Carolina, USA 1 and was buried in West Lafayette, Tippecanoe, IN 1.) |
