Rhyan, automobile salesman, 41, living with wife Lily J., 41; and daughter Nelda B. 7; and Clarence's aunt M. Jane Herren, 78. Nelda, Lily and Lily's father were born in Indiana, and Lily's mother and the others and their parents in Ohio.

2. Census in 1930 in Prairie Township, White, IN, USA. ⁵ The 1930 census recorded C. O. Rhyan, farmer, 52, living with wife Lillie B., 54, and daughter Nelda, 19. C. O. was first married at age 26 and Lillie at age 28. C. O. and his parents were born in Ohio. Lillie was born in Indiana, her father in Pennsylvania and mother in Ohio. Nelda and her mother were born in Indiana and her father in Ohio.

Rhyan Funeral to Be Held Saturday

BROOKSTON, Dec. 26. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon for Clarence O. Rhyan, 52, formerly of West Lafayette, who died at 5 a. m. Wednesday at the family home, two and one half miles east of here. Short services will be held at the home at 1 o'clock, followed by a Christian Science service at 1:30 o'clock in the Brookston M. E. church. Burial will be in Grand View cemetery, West Lafayette. Death followed an illness of six months. Mr. Rhyan was born in Columbus, Ohio, July 23, 1883 [note: his WWI draft card states 1881], a son of Charles W. and Sarah E. Rhyan. In 1901 he married May Heath, who died 24 years ago, and two years later he married Lillie Beeker. For a number of years he resided in West Lafayette, and was engaged as an automobile salesman there and in Lafayette. Nine years ago the family moved to this community and he took up farming. Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. John L. Summers, Brookston, and Mrs. Prudence Kelly, Chicago; a son, Fred, of Mishawaka, and three brothers, Cary Rhyan of California, and Truman and Albert Rhyan, Indianapolis.

Clarence married Lillie J. Beeker, daughter of Samuel Beeker and Hannah Herren, in 1914 in West Lafayette, Tippecanoe, IN.¹ (Lillie J.
