Word was received from Rochester, Minn., Monday of the death of George Gay, a prominent Delphi citizen, which occurred early Monday morning in the Mayo sanitarium. Mr. Gay, who was about sixty-two years old, was engaged in the oil business at Delphi, having been at the head of the Independent Oil company. He went to Rochester last Friday for a surgical operation. He was a life long resident of Carroll county and a republican in politics. For many years he was engaged in farming near the White county line. He was successful in farming and business and accumulated a fortune. His widow and two children, a son and daughter, survive. The body will be brought to Delphi.

Funeral of George Gay.
DELPHI, Ind., July 7. -- The body of George Gay, for many years a leading citizen of Delphi and Carroll county, who passed away yesterday at the Mayo hospital in Rochester, Minn., where he had spent several days in the hope of benefiting his health, was brought home this afternoon, accompanied by Mrs. Gay and Glenn Cushman, of the Intedependent Oil company, of which Mr. Gay was a member. The funeral will be conducted from the Presbyterian church Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial in Masonic cemetery.

George married Docia M. Sterrett, daughter of Joseph C. Sterrett and Orlena Beeker, on 26 Aug 1895 in Indianapolis, Marion, IN.^{1 2} (Docia M.
