Smith, 404 Weidman St., was dead on arrival at the Good Samaritan Hospital Wednesday of an apparent heart attack. He was 70. Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Claude and Mary Hiney Smith. He was a retired employee of the Lebanon Steel Foundry, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, St. Marys Choir, St. Marys Usher Society, the Knights of Columbus, fourth degree, was the grand director of the Pennsylvania Catholic Beneficial League and was very active with the Lebanon Catholic High School Athletic Association. He is survived by his wife, Catherine A. Lawless Smith; five children: Richard F. Smith, Lebanon; Terrence J. Smith, Camp Hill; Annette M., at home; Dennis P. Smith, Lebanon: and Margaret L., wife of Robert Shearer, Lebanon. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
