Census in 1850 in West Cocalico Twp., Lancaster, PA. ² In the 1850 Census in West Cocalico Township, Jacob Bucher, farmer, 67, is living in his daughter Rebecca's household headed by her husband, John Hacker [could be Hasker, handwriting is unclear]. Rebecca is 38, and John is a 42-year old farmer. John has no real estate and Jacob's is valued at $8,400, so it is clear John is farming Jacob's estate. Rebecca has two children living at home: Susanna, 17; John, 11. Also living with them is George Shafer, 28; and Leah Foltz, 15. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania.

3. Census in 1860 in West Cocalico Twp., Lancaster, PA. ⁴ The 1860 census recorded John Hacker, farmer, 50, living with wife Rebecca, 45; Isaac Hacker, 4. Also in the home is George Shaffer, hired hand, 37, and maid Maria Eberly, 16. The post office is Reinholdsville.

Two homes away is John Hacker, saw miller, 21, living with wife Catherine, 22; and Martin, 1.

4. Census in 1870 in West Cocalico Twp., Lancaster, PA. ⁵ The 1870 census recorded John Hacker, sawmiller, 61, living with wife Rebecca [nee Bucher], 57. Also in the home is Samuel Bucher, farm laborer, 16; Isaac Hacker, farm laborer, 14; and Amanda Bucher, domestic servant, 15.

5. Census in 1880 in West Cocalico Twp., Lancaster, PA. ⁶ On the same census page are related Hacker, Bucher, and Weinhold families.

The 1880 census recorded John Hacker, farmer, 71, living with wife Rebecca, 67. Also with them: grandson Samuel Bucher, 26; George Schaeffer, 58; and Lydia Kramer, 17.

Next door is John B. Hacker, 41, saw miller, with wife Catherine, 41; and son Martin, cigar maker, 21.

6. Census in 1900 in East Cocalico Twp., Lancaster, PA. ⁷ Samuel H. Bucher, occupation "sawyer", 46, born Jul 1853, was married for 13 years to wife Sarah, 32, Jul 1867. She and Samuel are living in the home of grandmother Rebecca Hacker, widow, 87, born Jan 1813. The census reports she had given birth to 4 children and 3 were alive in 1900.

On the next page is Henry H. Bucher, painter, 38, Aug 1861, married for 13 years to wife Ellen, 29, Dec 1870. She had given birth to 2 children: Lizzie, 12, Sep 1887; and Stephen, 9, Aug 1890. Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania.
