ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED - The engagement of Miss Helen Louise Beecher, 705 W. Washington Ave., to Richard Dwaine Martin is being made known by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Beecher, Wanatah, Ind. Mr. Martin is the son of Mrs. Rue Hukill, 54542 N. Ivy Rd. No date has been set for the wedding.

WANATAH - The marriage of Miss Helen Beecher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Beecher and Richard Martin, son of Mrs. Rae Hukill, South Bend, took place Aug. 30 at Zion Evangelical United Brethren church.
The Rev. Howard Walker, New Paris, a former pastor, performed the double ring ceremony.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white net over astin made street length. With this she wore white mitts and a white hat. Her flowers were red roses and white carnations.
Mrs. Walter White, Kokomo, an aunt, was matron of honor and was dressed in black and white and had a red rose corsage. Walter White served as best man.
A small reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. The home was decorated with Fall flowers and wedding bells. A bride and groom ornament centered the serving table.
When the couple went to Chicago for the holiday weekend the bride wore a black jersey dress with green accessories. They will live on Burdette street in South Bend. The bride is a secretary with the Trane Co., South Bend, and Mr. Martin is affiliated with the Gish Construetion Co., South Bend.

4. Cause of Death: Richard died at Osteopathic Hospital from pericarditis, collapse of sternum and ribs, multiple myeloma, 10 Dec 1960, South Bend, St. Joseph, IN. ⁴

5. Obituary: South Bend Tribune on 10 Dec 1960 in South Bend, St. Joseph, IN. ⁵ Richard D. Martin, 34, of 54542 Ivy Rd., died at 3:30 a.m. today in Osteopathic Hospital after an eight-month illness.
He was born in Gibson City, Ill., on Sept. 7, 1926, and had lived in South Bend years, coming here from Gibson City. He married Helen L. Beecher in Wanatah on Aug. 29, 1957.
She survives with his mother, Mrs. Rue Hukill of South Bend; his stepfather, Verl Hukill of South Bend; a daughter, Karalie, and a son, William, both at home. Mr. Martin was a building contractor and was a veteran of World War II. Friends may call after noon Sunday in the Bubb Chapel, Mishawaka.
Services will be there at 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. Paul Steele, pastor of the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Wanatah, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
