ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED - The engagement of Miss Helen Louise Beecher, 705 W. Washington Ave., to Richard Dwaine Martin is being made known by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Beecher, Wanatah, Ind. Mr. Martin is the son of Mrs. Rue Hukill, 54542 N. Ivy Rd. No date has been set for the wedding.

WANATAH - The marriage of Miss Helen Beecher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Beecher and Richard Martin, son of Mrs. Rue Hukill, South Bend, took place Aug. 30 at Zion Evangelical United Brethren church.
The Rev. Howard Walker, New Paris, a former pastor, performed the double ring ceremony.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white net over astin made street length. With this she wore white mitts and a white hat. Her flowers were red roses and white carnations.
Mrs. Walter White, Kokomo, an aunt, was matron of honor and was dressed in black and white and had a red rose corsage. Walter White served as best man.
A small reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. The home was decorated with Fall flowers and wedding bells. A bride and groom ornament centered the serving table.
When the couple went to Chicago for the holiday weekend the bride wore a black jersey dress with green accessories. They will live on Burdette street in South Bend. The bride is a secretary with the Trane Co., South Bend, and Mr. Martin is affiliated with the Gish Construetion Co., South Bend.

EDWARDSBURG - Helen Louise Hull, 75, of Eagle Lake, Edwardsburg, MI, passed to her rest on June 8, 2011, in her home. Her death was unexpected but was from natural causes. Helen was born April 29, 1936, in Royal Center, IN, the daughter of Everett G. and Lillie (White) Beecher. She was a 1954 graduate of Wanatah High School and then the South Bend College of Commerce. She worked for Ball Band, Mishawaka, as a corporate secretary, then was a property manager of the Scottsdale Mall of South Bend, and then managed the building housing the American National Bank of South Bend. In October 1972, she married Robert L. Hull, who passed to his rest September 27, 2001. Surviving are a stepson, Daniel Hull of West Yellowstone, Montana; a sister, Tereasa "Terry" (Randall) Pickering of Valparaiso, IN; and four nieces and nephews, Daniele Yocum, Bryce Pickering, Tonya Rush and Donald Stoner. Family who have passed, besides her husband, are her parents, and a brother, Eugene L. Beecher. Helen was laid to rest on June 13, 2011, privately with her family and close friends in attendance in the main mausoleum of St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. There will be a public service of remembrance at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 25863 West Main (US-12), Edwardsburg, on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. June 22, 2011. Family and friends may gather for one hour before the services in the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home. Helen was the former National President of the American Business Women Association. She enjoyed being with friends and their associations.


Helen married Richard Dwaine Martin, son of Roy Martin and Rae Anderson, on 30 Aug 1957 in Wanatah, LaPorte, IN.1 (Richard Dwaine Martin was born on 7 Sep 1924 in Gibson City, Ford, IL,8 10 died on 10 Dec 1960 in South Bend, St. Joseph, IN 8 10 11 and was buried on 12 Dec 1960 in Mishawaka, St. Joseph, IN 10.)
