James Kemps, a native of Green Bay, was recently promoted to sales manager at Marshfield Homes, Inc. For the past 10 months, he has been a sales representative for the local firm in the Midwest territory. Kemps was born on May 26, 1937, in Green Bay. He was graduated from St. Norbert High School in De Pere in 1955. Following high school, Kemps studied business administration at St. Norbert College, De Pere, for two years. In 1958, Kemps entered into the building industry. He was first employed as a sales manager for Weather Proof Co., Litchfield, Ill., a firm which manufactures aluminum building products. After three years with the Illinois firm, Kemps moved to Cedarburg, where he worked for Aluminum Industries, also a manufacturer of aluminum building products. Kemps came to Marshfield directly from Cedarburg. On Aug. 29 1959, Kemps married Joanne Beecher of De Pere in De Pere. They have three children Dawn, 4, Scott, 21 months, and Carla, four weeks. The family resides in Spencer. In his spare time, Kemps enjoys hunting, fishing, bowling and golf.

Kemps, 64, of Lancaster, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Monsignor Tom Baxter officiating. Bunal will be in St. Clement Cemetery, South Lancaster Township. Friends and relatives may call from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster, where a parish scripture service will be held at 9 p.m., and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church. He was bom May 26, 1937, in Green Bay, the son of Sylvester and Harriet (Davis) Kemps. He graduated from St. Norbert's High School and completed two years at St. Norbert's College, both in DePere. He married Joanne K. Beecher on Aug. 29, 1959, in West DePere, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Jim began his career in the building industry in 1959 as a sales manager for the Weather Proof Company of Litchfield, Ill. He then worked for Aluminum Industries of Cedarburg. He became a salesman with Wick Building Systems (Marshfield Homes) in Marshfield in 1963. He became their sales manager in 1964 and in 1969 was promoted to general manager for Artcraft Homes, a division of Wick Building Systems. Jim and his family moved to Lancaster in 1978, where he was employed as general manager of Skyline Corporation until his retirement in 1999. Jim was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. He enjoyed flying, fishing, hunting, golfing and the Green Bay Packers. He dearly loved his tamily and mends. Surviving are his wife Joanne Kemps or Lancaster; three daughters, Dawn (Greg) Miller of Rochester, Minn., Carla (Bill) Liberio of Jacksonville, Fla, and LeeAnn (Marland) Bode of Dickeyville; three sons, Scott (Deborah) Kemps of Satellite Beach, Fla., Todd Kemps of Melbourne, Fla., and Christopher (friend, Candi Kremer) Kemps of Palm Bay, Fla; 12 grandchildren, Aaron, Andrew, Shard and Jordan Boettcher, Tristan and Derek Miller, Jacqueline, Jennifer and Joey (Teriea Staley) Liberio, and Nathan, Tyler and Katelyn Bode; a great-grandchild, Micayla Liberio; his mother, Harriet (Kemps) Smits of DePere; four step-sisters, Patricia (Bruce) Brown of Kemville, Calif., Nancy Smits of San Diego, Calif., Joanne Smits of San Diego, . Calif., and Karen (Nathan) Marsh of Pueblo, Colo.; and his mother-in-law, Audrey Beecher of Green Bay. He was preceded in death by his father, Sylvester Kemps; his step-father, Raymond Smits; and a step-brother, David Smits. A James S. Kemps memorial fund has been established.


James married Joanne Kathleen Miller, daughter of Robert Matthew Miller and Audrey Louise Campshure, on 29 Aug 1959 in West De Pere, Brown, WI.1 (Joanne Kathleen Miller was born on 24 Oct 1937 in , , WI.)
