  Noted events in his life were:

1. Census in 1850 in S. Lebanon Twp., Lebanon, PA. 3 The 1850 South Lebanon Census lists a number of Bucher families, some living in close proximity.

On page 81 we first find Henry Bucher, age 52, farmer, real estate valued at $7000, living with wife Elizabeth, 45; Mary Ann, 20; Catherine, 18; Benedict, 16, farmer; Levina, 16; and Henry,14. All were born in Pennsylvania. Henry's neighbor preceding him is Peter Smith, 49, with his wife Margaret, 42, but the following neighbor is another Bucher.

On page 81 next is John Bucher, 67, occupation "none", real estate valued at $2500, living with a probable son, Ezra, 32, farmer, real estate valued at $2500. With him is Elizabeth, 35; John H., 10; Cyrus, 5; Christian S., 11 months old when the census was recorded on 8 Aug 1850. Also with them are others who aren't Bucher: George Schron, 21, laborer; Lidia Zellar, 16; and Catherine Zellar, 9. Everyone is born in Pennsylvania.

The next household is George Yeagley, weaver, 48, wife Elizabeth, 46, and their family; followed by George Hefs, blacksmith, 27, wife Rebecca, 26; and their family. Also in that home was Joseph Dohner, 25, related to the Dohners who married several Buchers.

The next household is Michael Snyder, laborer, 45; wife Mary [nee Bucher, sister of Henry above], 45; and children Henry, 19; Susan 18; Mary, 16; Israel, 11; Leah, 8; and Jonah, 5.

Next is Jacob Bucher, 43, farmer, real estate valued at $8000, is living with wife Francis, 38; Christian, 17, farmer; Nancy, 15; Jacob, 13; Susanna, 11; and daughter Francis, 7; George, 5; Elizabeth, 1; and a Susan Bucher, 48. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania.

Living next is John Greglow, 52, with wife Mary; Jacob Dohner, 35, with wife Elizabeth, 35; and John Dohner, 63.

2. Census in 1860 in S. Lebanon Twp., Lebanon, PA. 8 Ezra Bucher, age 42, farmer, is living with wife Elizabeth, 45; John H., 20, farmer; Cyrus S., 14; Christian, 10; Lydia, 5. Also in the home are Jacob Reist, 40, farmer; and Daniel Troukirk, 20, farm laborer. Ezra's real estate is valued at $10,000 and his possessions worth $3,000. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania.

3. Census in 1870 in Heidelberg Twp., Lebanon, PA. 9 The 1870 census recorded Cyrus Bucher, farmer, 25, living with his sister Lydia, 16, who was taking care of Cyrus' daughter Mary, 2, following the death of Cyrus' wife Barbara. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania.

4. Census in 1880 in Heidelberg Twp., Lebanon, PA. 10 The 1880 census recorded Cyrus Bucher, 34, living with his second wife Leah, 30; Mary, 11; Samuel, 7; Lydia, 6; Ida, 4; Sarah, 3; and Leah, 1. Also in the home is Leah's son Edward Keifer, 12; and Saml. Fastnacht, 14; and Anna Duble, 16. Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania.

5. Heidelberg Church of the Brethren in 1881 in Schaefferstown, Lebanon, PA. 11 In 1881 Elder Cyrus Bucher organized the first Sunday School in the Heidelberg Church. This was of short duration, owing to the fact that Cyrus Bucher moved to Astoria, Illinois, and at that time a number of the members were not interested in Sunday School.

6. Moved: 1882, Astoria, Fulton, IL. He moved to Astoria, IL, in 1882 and homesteaded a farm 2 miles east of Astoria. He was a farmer and free minister, elected in 1883; preached in English and German; attended 32 Annual Conferences; at one time he owned the Astoria Telephone Exchange and most of the Electric Light Plant. He was a member and minister of the Woodland Church of the Brethren.

7. Census in 1900 in Woodland Twp., Fulton, IL. 12 Two Bucher households are found on the same 1900 census page.

Samuel Bucher, farmer, 27, born Jun 1872, was married for 6 years to wife Mary, 22, Nov 1877. She had birthed 4 children, 3 were alive in 1900. With them: Fannie, 3, Jan 1897; Floyd, 1, Oct 1898; and Bessie, 0 months, born May 1900. Samuel and his parents were born in Pennsylvnaia. Mary and her father were born in Illinois, her mother in Ohio. All the children were born in Illinois.

A few homes away was Cyrus Bucher, 54, Jul 1845, married for 30 years to wife Leah, 50, Jul 1849. She had birthed 13 children, and 11 were alive in 1900. With them: Liddy, 24, Dec 1875; Anna, 18, Aug 1881; Frannie, 16, Jan 1884; Cyrus, 14, Feb 1886; Harvy, 11, Apr 1889; Lizzie, 9, Feb 1891; and Ezra, 6, Dec 1893. Also with them: cousin Isaac Bucher, farmer laborer, 28, Jun 1871; and Harry Lehman, laborer, 28, Nov 1871. Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania, except Fannie, Cyrus, Harvy, Lizzie and Ezra were born in Illinois.


Cyrus married Barbara Dohner on 29 Aug 1867 in , Lebanon, PA. (Barbara Dohner was born on 23 Jun 1848 in , , Pennylvania, USA,13 died on 1 Mar 1870 in , Lebanon, PA 13 and was buried in Reistville: Heidelberg Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Lebanon, PA 13.)


Cyrus next married Leah Shenk Gibble, daughter of Samuel P. Gibble and Elizabeth Shenk. (Leah Shenk Gibble was born on 8 Jul 1849 in Heidelberg Twp., Lebanon, PA,14 died on 4 Aug 1932 in Astoria, Fulton, IL 14 and was buried in Astoria: Woodland Cemetery, Fulton, IL 14.)
