Obituary: Pottsville Republican: obituary of Alexander Tamkunas on 27 May 1940 in Pottsville, Schuylkill, PA. 4 Alexander Tamkunas, 55, of 445 Sunbury St., Minersville, Sunday evening, after an illness of complications. He was a retired miner and was a native Lithuania. He came to the United States in his youth, and before locating at Minersville, conducted a hotel business in St. Clair. He was a member of the St. Francis Lithuanian Church. He is survived by his wife, Anna (Chernosky) Tamkunas; a son, Albert, somewhere in Texas, and a brother, John Tamkunas, Chicago. The funeral will take place Thursday morning with Mass in St Francis Church. The interment will be made in the parish cemetery. Paulosky and Willinsky will be in charge. Alexander married Anna Stine, daughter of John Stine and Mary Youdis.
